Chase the Sun

Effective date: 2026-10-05

This policy explains how this application handles information and how to contact us about privacy.

Information we process

Chase the Sun stores campaign stars, unlocked shell collectibles, completed daily challenge dates, the current unfinished round, daily challenge cache, language, sound, music and motion preferences locally on your device. The game does not ask for your name, email, location or an account. Opening a daily challenge sends a date and ordinary network request information to our backend. If you enable optional progress synchronization, the backend creates a random installation identifier and secret. The secret is stored in this device’s Keychain; the server stores its cryptographic hash, installation timestamps and synchronized stars, completed dates and shell identifiers. Railway, which hosts the backend and public website, processes network information such as IP addresses, request times, paths and technical connection data when you make requests. The app includes no advertising or analytics SDKs.

How we use information

Local storage lets you continue the game offline and retain settings and rewards. Daily challenge requests provide a consistent puzzle for a UTC calendar date. Optional synchronization stores a copy of this installation’s game progress and merges it without reducing earned stars. The installation secret authorizes access and deletion of that installation’s private progress; it is not an account or a mechanism for signing in on another device. Technical hosting information supports delivery, service operation and diagnosing failures.

Service providers and sharing

The backend and website run on Railway. Railway receives the network traffic and stores the service database on a persistent volume as our infrastructure provider. Authorized service operators can access stored installation records when necessary to operate the service. Application error logs contain random request identifiers and error codes rather than secrets or progress payloads. Railway may maintain infrastructure and HTTP logs under its own service practices. We do not sell data, use advertising networks or send game progress to analytics, social sign-in, email delivery or other auxiliary providers.

Data retention

Local progress and preferences remain until you reset local progress, remove app data or uninstall the app, subject to your device’s storage and backup behavior. The installation secret is a device-only Keychain item and may remain in the Keychain after uninstalling; uninstalling alone does not delete server data. Synchronized installation records remain on the persistent server volume until deleted through the app. Public daily puzzle snapshots are retained to provide consistent historical challenges and do not contain personal progress. We have not configured an application-managed backup schedule or a fixed log retention period. Hosting logs, storage snapshots and any infrastructure backups are governed by Railway’s applicable configuration and practices; immediate removal from infrastructure backups is not promised.

Deleting your information

Settings provides Delete Server Data, which sends an authorized deletion request for this installation, removes its active database record and invalidates its secret. After a successful response the app removes the Keychain secret and disables automatic synchronization; local progress is retained. Reset Local Progress is a separate confirmed action that clears local game progress and the local daily cache; it does not delete a previously synchronized server copy. Disable synchronization and delete server data if you do not want that copy retained. Deletion of the active record does not erase existing infrastructure logs or guarantee immediate deletion from provider backups. If the secret is lost, the app cannot retrieve or delete the old installation by signing in; contact holovkovladyslav4@gmail.com to discuss available options without sending your secret.

Permissions and your choices

Chase the Sun requests no location, contacts, camera, microphone, photo library or notification permission. Sound and music playback use local audio and can be disabled in Settings. Network communication can be prevented by device connectivity controls; campaign play, training, Ink Escape and local saving remain available offline. Optional synchronization can be disabled in Settings. Changing device backup settings affects any backup of app data maintained by your device provider.

Your privacy rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or other information about processing, or to complain to an applicable data protection authority. Use the in-app local reset and authorized server deletion controls for your game data. Privacy questions and rights requests may be sent to holovkovladyslav4@gmail.com. This address is a privacy contact only; the game does not operate an email delivery or support form. Because records are installation-scoped and do not contain your name or email, we may need appropriate non-secret information to identify a record and cannot promise recovery when the installation secret is unavailable.

Security

Public service requests use HTTPS. Private progress requests require a random per-installation bearer secret, and the server verifies that it belongs to the requested installation. The server stores a SHA-256 hash rather than the original secret. On the device, the secret uses a device-only Keychain item. The backend validates request sizes and progress values and uses transactional database updates. Local game data is stored in the application’s device storage. No system can guarantee absolute security; do not share your installation secret. No shared server credential is embedded in the app.

Children’s privacy

The game is a cozy puzzle suitable for a broad audience including players around age ten and older. It does not request a child’s name, contact details or user account, and includes no advertising, purchases, chat or social features. Ordinary network requests still reach the hosting service, and optional synchronization stores installation-scoped progress as described above. A parent or guardian can keep play offline, disable synchronization and use the deletion controls. If you believe personal information about a child has been provided improperly, contact holovkovladyslav4@gmail.com.

Changes to this policy

This policy describes the current app and backend practices. If processing changes, we will update this public page and its effective date, and provide additional notice in the app when appropriate. The Privacy Policy link in Settings opens the current published policy.
